I usually try to share 3 recipes a week, but we had two days without rain...in a row! I had to take advantage of it and get some things done around here. The horses were so happy to get outside without getting soaked, but the mud they are covered in is something I have to try to learn to live with. Even with blankets they are filthy. You’ve just got to learn to laugh it off!

Bourbon helps...

I am thinking this might turn into something I do every Friday so you have a fun cocktail to try every weekend. Today we are having snow and rain, and it’s hovering in the low to mid 30’s, so the dampness just chills you to the bone. Therefore, a hot cocktail is a must!

You all sort of went bananas for the Buttered Bourbon Hot Chocolate, so I decided to share this super easy and so damned delicious Bourbon Chai Latte today. Yes, you read that right:

I promise it is every bit as good as it sounds! You need a 2 tea bags of excellent quality organic chai tea, a rich oakey Bourbon like Jim Beam Double Oak, Maple Syrup, Cream or Milk, Hot Water, and if you have it handy, a blender. How simple is that? Ready? Grab two big mugs, because the sooner you mix it together, the sooner you’ll be enjoying it! in

ingredients:

2 Ounces Jim Beam Double Oak Bourbon

2 Bags or Teaspoons of Organic Chai Tea

2 Cups Milk (I prefer heavy cream, but coconut milk is delicious, as are nut milks)

2 Cups Water

2 Tablespoons Maple Syrup (I like a good local syrup, or Bushwick Kitchen Spicy Maple

Pinch of Sea Salt

instructions:

Combine Milk and Water in a 4 cup measure or bowl. Add tea bags and heat in the microwave approximately 3-4 minutes, or heat on the stove top in a saucepan until it comes to a boil, at which time you’ll remove it from the heat.

Strain or remove tea bags. Add bourbon and maple and stir to combine. *Optional but highly recommended* Blend on high until frothy, divide into two mugs. Garnish with a dash of cinnamon and serve.

This is easily divided to serve one, or doubled.

I know you’ll love this Bourbon Chai Latte, and I hope it becomes a new favorite that you will enjoy again and again. It’s simple enough for a quick treat on a cold night, but luscious enough for the holidays or any special gathering. If you try it, snap a pic and tag me so I can see!

Happy Weekend!
